First Swimming Experience
(1994)

At 3 years old, my grandparents took me to swim lessons at Crossgates Cabana Club in San Jose during the summer. I was afraid of swimming and hated it so I sat on the sidelines for three weeks.

Learning to Swim
(1995)

I joined the Crossgates Cabana Club summer league swim team in 1995 and swam for the team until 2009. Beginning in 1998, I rode my bike to swim practice almost daily and stayed at the pool for three hours each day. I won the High Point Award for four years.

First Club Team
(2004)

I joined Valley Splash Aquatics, my first club team, and started swimming with the renowned Jerry Bozzo, former San Jose State University swim coach.

At Leigh, I made the varsity swim team during my freshman year and the Central California Swimming (CCS) team during all four years. During my junior year in 2009, I became an All-American Automatic (top 100 in nation for male swimmers) for the butterfly stroke.
